Empowering Huron – Together We Thrive

Building a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable future for our community.

About Me

Manika Bansal

Dear Huron Community,

My name is Manika Bansal, and I'm a third-year student specializing in Economics. Over the years, I've had the privilege of serving as the Associate to the President of the HUCSC, Relay for Life Commissioner, Student Engagement Officer, Student Ambassador, and Writing and Communications Tutor at the Writing Center, among other roles

Each of these experiences has deepened my connection to the Huron community and shaped me into who I am today. Now, I want to give back by using my skills and experiences to make a meaningful difference—so that someone else can stand where I am one day and say that Huron helped shape their journey too

Platform for Change

Community & Inclusivity

More Cultural and Social Programming

Huron's diversity is its greatest strength, and intentional cultural programming can foster connection, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging among students. By hosting regular, diverse events in accessible locations, we can celebrate our multiculturalism and ensure every student feels included and engaged.

Support for All

By forming partnerships and creating centralized, accessible resources, Huron can better support marginalized groups, including LGBTQ+ and BIPOC students, ensuring equity and fostering inclusion.

Increase Transparency

Greater transparency and campus presence from HUCSC will foster a stronger sense of community and engagement, allowing students to feel more comfortable getting involved on campus.

Increase Sustainability

Green Initiatives

Expanding sustainable practices on campus can reduce environmental impact, promote mental wellness, and enhance student life through green spaces and eco-friendly initiatives.

More Strategic Partnerships

Collaborating with local businesses and organizations can enrich campus life, offering students unique learning experiences, valuable resources, and practical tools for success.

Better Training

Comprehensive training for HUCSC members and clubs is essential to help them understand their responsibilities and ensure continuity in effectively serving the Huron community.

Wellness & Mental Health

Neurodivergent-friendly "stress buster" room

This space will feature calming resources such as noise-canceling headphones, tactile fidget tools, and weighted blanket ensuring all students have a safe and supportive place to unwind.

Diversify Locations

Diversify the locations of the pop-up wellness booths to target different student groups on campus to increase awareness of the available resources

Academic & Career Support

Engaging Academic Resources

Enhanced access to study spaces, tutoring, and collaborative learning opportunities can empower students to overcome challenges, reach their potential, and thrive academically.

Career Development

Expanding career development services will help students build connections, gain practical experience, and succeed professionally.

Affordability

Textbook Lending Program
